Hi writing family,
I’m still recovering from surgery—it took more out of me than I expected. I’ve had a lot of day time naps.
Thankfully, writing only involves moving my fingers and having at least some of my brain engaged.
I was careful not to tweet or write anything 48 hours after surgery incase I said something odd!
Still, I found it hard to get back into writing this week. For the first time ever I had to extend a deadline with one of my editors.
I don’t like doing that.
The hardest part of writing is often starting. Do you find that?
Luckily, I’ve got a process I go through to trick myself into starting.
This week it’s helped me get back into writing and even make a start on a new novel!
If you’re stuck at the start, I hope it helps you too. Here’s the friend link:

P.S. There’s a writing challenge at the end and I’d love to hear how you go with it.
Hi Kelly - I wish you a speedy recovery from your surgery and hope you feel stronger soon.
The hardest part of writing is absolutely getting started, followed closely by finishing.
