I finally finished reading at 11pm last night.
You don’t know how hard you made my job of judging the personal essay contest!
Guest judge, Zulie Rane read some today and her comment says it all:
“These are really good! Such a breath of fresh air.”
Narrowing down to 10 finalists was NOT easy.
But it’s done.
They’ve been handed over to the guest judges Sean Kernan and Zulie Rane and in a couple of days the results will be in.
BUT I need your help.
There’s a readers’ favorite category and I need you to get behind your fellow writers and vote like crazy.
Get your cozy reading spot ready!
I’ll let you know when they’re live.
Best of luck to all those who entered. (The names aren’t revealed until the last moment so I still don’t know who wrote what. I can’t wait to see!)
Did the challenge get you excited about personal essays?
It definitely fired me up again!
Check out my Introductory Course or if that’s too easy-peasy, come challenge yourself with me in August/September.
I’m running a Beta version of my long awaited Advanced Personal Essay Course, at a discounted price. ($139USD per month. $278USD total)

P.S. I encouraged my coeditor Ash to send his personal essay to a well-paid online publication—seeing as he couldn’t enter the contest—and they accepted it! That could be you next!
P.P.S. If you want to start pitching to magazines, this freebie will help.
Really cool competition. Can't wait to read all of the entries!
Thanks for putting it all together.
