Hi writing family!
I know many of us are feeling disappointed with the Christmas season this year with all the restrictions etc. But I’m still feeling optimistic about it.
I had surgery a couple of weeks ago, (thank you for all the kind words you sent me! I’m feeling much better). But I knew Christmas would need to be very simple this year.
It’s summer here—which I know is weird to imagine!—so hopefully it’ll involve getting outdoors and enjoying the sun.
It reminds me of one Christmas when I was a teenager.
My families finances were tight and my parents decided we’d do presents differently.
They gave out $5 each and we drew names to see who we’d buy for.
I got a pair of novelty glasses. My sister got silly putty. I think someone got a pair of underwear? I don’t remember it all, but I do remember how fun that day was.
In fact, that Christmas is my favorite one.
It was simple, silly, and a time my family had a lot of fun together.
You might not be able to do all your usual traditions and family events this year, but different can be fun too.
Sending lots of love and Christmas joy your way,
Kelly
P.S. Two agents are looking for fiction writers right now. If you’ve got a manuscript ready, check it out here.
Happy Christmas to you too, Kelly and best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Thanks for the reminder that simplicity doesn't have to equal disappointing. Wishing you a Merry Christmas.
