I won a writing contest last week!
If you stick around long enough—which many of you have—you’ll know I have an obsession with contests.
I even asked my husband for an arm wrestle last week and he’s a stone mason. No way I’m winning that one.
But a win is a nice start to the year.
The contest involved describing the best piece of writing advice I’ve been given from a writing mentor or teacher.
A funny thing happens with writing. You often look back at a piece, even one a few weeks old, and want to rewrite it.
I feel like that about this piece now. But the advice is still my favorite.
P.S. There are a couple of spots left for March Writing Club.
(Numbers are strictly limited to 20.)
Perhaps you’ll get inspired to enter a contest?
That essay is excellent, Kelly. I've never heard advice framed like that and it seems very relevant to my writing. Thank you.
