I watched a gameshow yesterday where a young lady said her hobby was eating.
Yes. Eating.
Well, I have a similar hobby—devouring tasty stories.
And I’m finding the tastiest stories as I research for “No More Blank Pages.”
It’s heaven!!
My fingers start burning to write before I’m halfway through them.
Good writing makes us see what’s possible.
Good writing connects deep within us and stirs up our own creativity.
Here’s a nibble from one of them:
“By the time the cop called “Lisa Davis”, I’d been sitting in the hard wooden pew in New York City criminal court for two hours. The courthouse swirled with diminished beauty: cracked marble, tarnished brass. It seemed so unlikely that it could feel like an actual hall of justice, that hope could find its way past the bulletproof glass and the metal detectors.
I stood and smoothed my shirt, adjusted the 18 years’ worth of papers in my manila file folder, and tried to catch my breath. Please let today be the day it ends, I silently prayed. Let today be the day I clear my name.”
Right? How gorgeously delicious is that writing?!
“That hope could find its way past the bulletproof glass and the metal detectors….”
Ah! I love chomping down on lines like that.
Okay. I don’t want to go on and on about all the pieces I’ve read this week (although I could. One Pulitzer Prize winning piece made me cry three times.)
Here’s the rest of the tasty story from above for you to read for yourself.
And here’s the pre-order page for “No More Blank Pages” to cook up your own masterpieces in 2023.
Have a great day!
