Many editors and publications prefer articles that are backed by experts and research. Is that something you do? If you do, how do you use it? If you don’t, why not?
I always quote the source of any material that is not just my opinion. I use the quoted sources to bolster my opinion and try to show my line of reasoning. As the saying more or less goes - everyone is entitled to their opinion, but you are not entitled to your own facts. Also, by quoting sources you give people the option of additional reading that will present more information than I have used in my article. Many times while I am researching a subject I have learned peripheral facts that have to lead me in an entirely different direction.
