I’ve had some writing hits on Medium lately and I know some of you are newly signed up to BYW because of them. Great to have you here! I’d love to get to know you better.
So I thought we’d do one of our “Share your work” threads! (Everyone, not just newbies)
What’s something you’ve done with your writing lately you’re proud of? Published your first Medium article? Pitched a magazine? Finished a book? Share so we can be encouraged by your success!
Hey Kelly. Congrats on having a string of hits lately. That's such a nice feeling, isn't it?! Here's my moment. Medium published a list of the top read stories for 2023 and my piece on aging was in that list. That was real nice.
Glad you're being a bit more recognized on Medium. My 'moment' is that my latest book, Thirteen Jewels of Transformation, has just been uploaded to and accepted by KDP. So, it is effectively 'published.' It will take however long it takes for it to appear on my author page, but the fruit of last year's labours now hangs ripe from that tree.
Hey Kelly. I'm relatively new to your content. However, in the last couple of days I've read several of your articles. I was really intrigued with "My Life is Very Ordinary But It Still Sells." I enjoyed the article. And it made me want to read more of your content simply to get a feel for what you were talking about. I like what you have to say about writing in general as well as stories like the one about your daughter and the relationship you share.
I've only published a few times on Medium. I hope to publish more in the near future as I have a few in the works. I'm new to writing on Medium and hope to get better with practice. I love your pointers.
Hi Kelly! Something I've done lately that I'm proud of was deciding to become a little vulnerable and write my first piece that was more emotional. I love writing humor and memoir, and my memoir and personal essays have been on the lighter side with humor. It was scary sharing a more emotional piece that was about loss and anger, but it was well received and even boosted on Medium.
I wanted to share that I have got myself doing a regular post once per week on Medium (started first week of Jan). I am very happy because I have made a commitment to myself to do it, and even though the process feels a bit uneven to say the least, I am learning a lot. Here is the link to the first article in the series. Thanks for all of the inspiration you bring to so many. I really enjoyed the class last year with you and Ash. Thanks again for your generosity and support for other writers. https://medium.com/shameless-self-helper/2024-the-year-i-got-my-s-t-together-51b7b374f255

I saw that and I was really excited for you! Such a great piece! Here's Linda's story if you haven't read it yet. https://medium.com/middle-pause/no-one-really-tells-you-the-hardest-part-of-getting-older-ddd4ec40dc81
That was so nice of you to share the link. Thanks, Kelly! xoxo

Yes, this was the piece. Thank you, I'm glad you loved it!

I'm so happy about this! (And I got addicted to your series on decluttering!)
