Literally same! I’m currently working on the third draft of a speculative dystopian (i think) novel. I started the first draft in first person but then read a bunch of advice saying 3rd is better while 1st is too hard or doesn’t usually do as well. So i went back and changed it to 3rd past tense.

But it just didn’t feel right so i wrote the second draft in first person, like my instincts originally told me to, and it works so much better.

Please let me know when you're ready for readers! Happy to be a Beta. I'm sure my 18 year old daughter would love it too. She's a huge dystopian reader.

I personally prefer 3rd person perspective in fiction, especially in romantic fiction. The first-person narrative in romantic fiction is not my cup of tea. I feel it takes away the liberty of daydreaming.

I agree. I don't like romantic fiction in first-person.
