Any help in writing non-fiction about life/politics/ social issues?
Compared to everyone else's writing on here, I know my writing sucks. Its like driving a car over a road filled with bumps and potholes, and I want to make it better!
Hi James, writing is one of those crafts we never stop learning. All of us can always improve. The number one way to improve your writing at the start is to read a lot of work in the genre you want to write in. Reading high quality pieces shows you what's possible and helps your own writing. Read them and then analyze them: look at how they start the pieces, how they move from one idea to the next, what order they discuss things in (structure), whether they use quotes and how they quote people, how they use research, what they do to finish up a piece. Learn from writers you admire by examining their work and then try to apply some of those techniques in your own writing.

This is so encouraging. I've never really thought about it this way.
