It’s a special day here in New Zealand: Matariki (Maori new year) and that means a long weekend!

You know what I love about weekends?

Space to write.

I can kick the kids out for a few hours and pretend I’m one of those writers.

You know, the ones who have hours everyday to sit and think about their own thoughts and shape them into sentences. Ahhhh, luxury.

This weekend, guess what? There’s still time to enter the personal essay contest.
