I’m reading Anne Lamott’s book Bird by Bird and my favorite tip so far is to write small assignments. Write one paragraph. Write one scene. Write something small. She calls it her “one-inch frame”. Need a prompt: she suggests writing about your school lunches as a kid. What sandwiches did you have? Mine were often lettuce and peanut butter. (Weird I know!) Tell us about yours.
A staple of my elementary school cafeteria was "Rotini with meat sauce". Another was "Open face turkey sandwich". What kind of meat was it? Why couldn't they be bothered with the extra slice of bread? Was it for the same reason that they had to use rotini and not some other type of pasta?
"Bird by Bird" is my favorite "writing" book. And, peanut butter and lettuce sandwiches were often my school lunch as well.
I wasn't expecting anyone else would have had them! The book is lovely, and not at all what I was expecting.

Haha, yes! Mystery "meat"
Everyone always assumes vegetarians are very health conscious don't they. I know a few "junk food vegetarians"! Definitely an essay in there.
